Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to bring a partner?
No partner is required for any of our classes. In Retro Line Dance classes, no partner is needed as we dance individually as a group in lines of about 4/5 across the floor. We welcome singles, couples, and friends to all our classes. Some styles of dance such as Rock n Roll, Lindy Hop Swing, Ballroom & Latin are partner dances but we partner you up with other dancers in the class and change partners throughout the class (if you come as a couple/friends and do not wish to change partners then we can accommodate this). This is a great way to get to know other dancers and learn from others.
What shoes are best to wear?
We would recommend all dancers bring a change of shoes to class to avoid stones and/or mud from the soles of your shoes scratching the floor. We advise you to wear clean outdoor shoes with a smooth sole, a heel is fine as long as it is no too high and block style is best. Adults should avoid wearing running trainers as these grip the floor and limit turning and twisting and put added pressure on knee and ankle joints.
What clothes should be worn for class?
We suggest wearing clothes you are comfortable in and can move in with ease. We will have the windows open to improve ventilation so please wear something warm to start the class. You will get warm during our classes, so we advise layers which can be easily removed and a short sleeved top would be advisable.
How do you register for a class or course?
We advise you to pre-book where possible, but this is not essential. You can now visit our Dance Shop to purchase your class/courses and Dance class savers in advance. Alternatively, just come along to the class 5 minutes before the start time. We accept cash and card payment in class. We ask you to register in advance for courses due to limited numbers.
Should we bring a drink to class?
A bottle of water is always a good thing to bring to class. Keeping dehydrated after exercise is always beneficial to your body.
What if I am unable to make my class?
No problem, we will always catch you up or you are very welcome to attend one of our others classes. If you have paid for your class/es or course in advance and are unable to attend the fees are non-transferable.
How do we pay for classes?
Normally, most classes are paid for weekly, or by purchasing Block Class Saver. Courses will need to paid in full in advance or at the first lesson. We normally accept cash, contactless card payment and direct bank transfers. The Long Marston Venue has very limited phone signal to make contactless payment, so cash is recommended.
